History of the Methodist Manor

History of the Methodist Manor

Methodist Manor began as a group of friends who met weekly over ice cream following services at Central United Methodist Church, earning the nickname, "the ice cream gang."

The group, facing the uncertainty of their retirement years but wanting to hold on to their independence and involvement in the community, realized the need for a place that could help them maintain their lifestyle and also provide security for the future.

Their vision soon caught the attention of Reverend Robert C. Faulkner, who with help from several key congregational members worked diligently to turn their vision into reality.

Their diligence came to fruition when in December of 1991, Methodist Manor opened with 82 independent living apartments, 19 assisted living suites and 22 skilled nursing beds. Many in the Florence area excitedly grasped the opportunity to be part of this special community and within two years, full occupancy was reached and the waiting list grew.

In the years since, Methodist Manor has continued to grow and change to meet the needs of mature members of the Florence community, adding additional assisted living suites, a new addition of independent living apartment homes and two phases of patio homes.

Other special projects have included a health care center, memory care suites and an elegant 5,000 square-foot chapel. We are still growing and making a better place to live for our valued residents.

Today, Methodist Manor offer a full range of independent living options, from our Asbury Village patio homes, to our 100 independent living apartments, 53 assisted living suites, 12 memory care suites and 32 skilled nursing beds.

As we look to the future, we continue striving to create comfortable spaces that enhance the independence and quality of life of our residents. We hope you see yourself in our future as well.
