Understanding Dementia Series Classes

National Certified Dementia Practitioner, Adelle Stanley will be conducting classes on "Understanding Dementia".  These classes are held once a month, starting in Feb thru August  and are for anyone with interest in understanding this dreaded disease. These classes are free and Continued Education Credits (CEUs) have been applied for each session. At the completion of this seven course series, participants will be able to:

  • Differentiate the most common forms of dementia including Alzheimer's dementia, Vascular dementia, Frontal Temporal dementia, and Lewy Body dementia.
  • Understand resident care and management strategies for caregivers.
  • Identify effective communication skills.
  • Articulate how the environment can enhance the feeling of safety as caregivers assist residents with ADL's.
  • Describe interventions that may be used including: communication skills and behavioral management and mealtime activities.
  • Identify community resources available for both professionals and family caregivers.
